The Republic of Palau Financial Intelligence Unit (“FIU”) is an independent agency established in 2001 to combat money laundering and terrorism financing through the receipt, analysis, and dissemination of financial intelligence. It is also tasked with supervising Financial Institutions and Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions for compliance with the Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act.
